Applications
Isopentyl methacrylate (CAS 7336-27-8) is a hydrophobic methacrylate monomer used as a co-monomer/reactive diluent in acrylic resins for coatings, adhesives, sealants, and printing inks—especially UV/EB-curable systems—where it reduces viscosity and VOC while enhancing flexibility, adhesion to plastics and metals, weatherability, and chemical and water resistance; upon copolymerization it yields low-Tg copolymers that deliver low-temperature flexibility, reduced brittleness, and improved performance in pressure-sensitive adhesives (labels and tapes), protective varnishes, wood/plastic/metal, automotive and industrial coatings, as well as printed films and overprints, and it is also employed to modify PMMA/acrylics and surface properties to balance hardness, gloss, and impact durability.
