Applications
Isononanal (CAS 49824-43-3) is a branched C9 aliphatic aldehyde widely used in fragrance creation to deliver a clean aldehydic, citrus-green, slightly fatty freshness, boosting top-note lift and diffusion in fine fragrances, soaps, detergents, personal-care bases, candles and air care; it blends well with citrus, ozonic, muguet, white-floral and soapy accords, and can be microencapsulated for fabric longevity; as a chemical intermediate it is useful for making oximes/Schiff bases, for oxidation to isononanoic acid used in synthetic lubricant esters and corrosion-inhibitor chemistries, or for hydrogenation to isononanol used in plasticizers and surfactants; it is also occasionally dosed at trace levels in flavor compositions to enhance peel-like green nuances.
