  • Applications

Isoeugenyl methyl ether (CAS 6380-24-1, also known as methyl isoeugenol) is used primarily as a fragrance ingredient in fine fragrances and personal care (EDTs/EDPs, body sprays, creams, shampoos, body washes) as well as home and fabric care (soaps, cleaners, fabric softeners, scented candles, air-care) to impart warm, sweet-spicy clove/carnation, slightly balsamic nuances and to blend/round floral, spicy, oriental, chypre, and fougère accords; it is often chosen as a spice/flower modifier that offers improved color stability and lower reactivity in alkaline bases (e.g., bar soaps) compared with isoeugenol; it is also used at trace levels in flavor/fragrance R&D (subject to regulation), as an analytical reference in QC, and as a co-ingredient in microencapsulated fragrance systems; usage is subject to IFRA and local rules (perform safety assessment and allergen labeling as required), with typically low dosages to avoid overpowering and to maintain compliance.
