  • Applications

Hydrogen iodide (CAS 10034-85-2) is a strong hydrogen halide available as gas or solution and widely used as a reactive reagent and intermediate in organic synthesis: it converts alcohols to alkyl iodides, enables hydroiodination of alkenes and alkynes to give organoiodides that serve as substrates for cross-coupling reactions (e.g., Suzuki), cleaves acetals to reveal carbonyl compounds, and provides iodine-containing intermediates and reagents for pharmaceutical and specialty chemical manufacturing.
