Applications
Hexyl 2-methylbut-2-enoate (CAS 65652-33-7) is a fruity, green, slightly winey ester reminiscent of apple, pear and tropical fruits; in fragrance work it is used as an ingredient and top-note modifier to add juiciness, lift and naturality to fruit, citrus, green and contemporary accords, suitable for fine fragrances, personal care, household cleaners, candles and air care; in flavor creation it helps build apple, pear, pineapple, mango and apricot profiles for confectionery, beverages, baked goods and yogurt at trace levels to enhance perceived sweetness and freshness; it is also employed in R&D as an analytical/reference standard for GC–MS, for sensory and stability/performance studies, and as a substrate/model in research on esterification, microencapsulation, controlled release and volatilization behavior in packaging materials.
