  • Applications

Hexadecanolide (also known as 15-hexadecanolide or musk T), CAS 109-29-5, is a macrocyclic lactone with a soft, long-lasting musky odor that is widely employed as a premium fragrance ingredient and fixative in fine perfumes, creams, personal-care products, deodorants, scented soaps, detergents, candles, and food flavors; owing to its good oil miscibility and high oxidative stability it is further investigated for encapsulating aroma microcapsules, extending topical drug release profiles, acting as a carrier for beverage flavors, supporting sensory studies of natural musk notes in the food industry, and being incorporated into “green” cosmetic formulations because it can be synthesized from renewable fatty acids, complies with IFRA and EU safety guidelines, enables reduction of traditional nitro musks, and enhances overall product sustainability.
