Applications
Hexadecanamide is commonly used as a waxy fatty amide additive in plastics and polymer processing, functioning as a slip agent and anti-blocking lubricant to improve release properties and surface characteristics of films and molded parts. It may also serve as a lubricating additive in industrial lubricants and metalworking fluids, reducing friction and wear. In coatings and inks, hexadecanamide can act as a surface-modifying additive to adjust rheology, reduce blocking, and improve pigment dispersion. As an intermediate in organic synthesis, hexadecanamide can be used to prepare other fatty amide derivatives and specialty chemicals. Additionally, it may be used as a component in adhesives and sealants to influence viscosity and slip properties.
