Applications
Hex-3-enyl benzoate (CAS 75019-52-2) is a green, leafy–fruity, lightly floral–herbal ester valued in fragrance and research; in fine perfumery it brightens top notes (green tea, jasmine, muguet, cucumber, crisp apple/pear) and, thanks to moderate volatility and the benzoate ring, adds diffusion and light substantivity on skin and fabric; in personal care it delivers a fresh-natural green character to shampoos, soaps, body washes, creams, and deodorants with good base compatibility, while strong alkaline media should be avoided to limit hydrolysis; in home and fabric care (detergents, softeners, air care, candles) it builds modern green accords and performs well in encapsulation for long-lasting fabric freshness, often blended with cis-3-hexenyl acetate/3-hexenol, galbanum materials, citrals, and linalool; beyond perfumery it serves as a GC/MS reference for green leaf volatiles, a probe in plant–insect semiochemical studies and behavioral assays, and a convenient intermediate for transesterification or hydrolysis to 3-hexenol and benzoic acid; use levels depend on the base and compliance with IFRA and local regulations, and storage tightly closed away from light and strong bases is recommended.
