Glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (CAS 2530-83-8) is an organosilane coupling agent with an epoxy (glycidyl) group used to promote bonding between inorganic substrates and organic polymers, improving adhesion of coatings, paints, and epoxy adhesives; it also acts as a bridging crosslinker in epoxy and other amine- or epoxy-cured resin systems; it is added to coatings and paints to enhance adhesion on glass, metal, and ceramics; it is used for surface treatment and to improve interfacial bonding in fiber-reinforced composites (glass or carbon fiber); and as a surface pretreatment for cementitious substrates to improve bonding with sealants and coatings, depending on local regulations.
