    Glutaric anhydride is a bifunctional organic compound widely used as a building block and intermediate in polymer and resin chemistry. In polymers/plastics, it is employed as a difunctional monomer to prepare polyesters and polyimides via condensation polymerization, enabling control of chain structure and material properties. In coatings and inks, it is used to synthesize polyester resins for coatings and printing inks, improving network formation and durability. In adhesives, it serves as a resinous modifier or crosslinking component to enhance adhesion and heat resistance. In industrial manufacturing, it is used as an intermediate to access functional glutarate derivatives and specialty chemicals. In pharmaceuticals, it may be used as an intermediate to introduce glutarate moieties into drug synthesis, subject to regulatory and formulation limits.
