  • Applications

    Gamma-Linolenic acid (GLA), CAS 506-26-3, is widely used as a source of omega-6 fatty acids in cosmetics and personal-care products, where it acts as an emollient and a basis for oil- and cream-based formulations; it is also employed as a chemical intermediate to synthesize special fatty acid esters for applications in polymers and plastics, such as bio-based plasticizers and lubricants; in coatings and inks, GLA-derived esters can contribute to resin flexibility and performance; and as a fatty-acid feedstock, it may be used to manufacture surfactants or detergent precursors for cleaning formulations.
