Applications
Furfuryl methacrylate (CAS 3454-28-2) is primarily used as a reactive monomer to prepare furfuryl-containing polymers and copolymers for coatings, adhesives, and inks. The methacrylate group enables radical polymerization, while the furfuryl substituent provides sites for post-polymerization modification and crosslinking via Diels–Alder chemistry with maleimide-functional components, enabling thermally or UV-cured coatings and advanced resins. It is also used as a bio-based monomer to improve sustainability in specialty polymers and resins, including UV-curable coatings and sealants, and can serve as an intermediate to introduce furfuryl functionality into polymer matrices for various industrial applications.
