  • Applications

Furfuryl acetate (CAS 623-17-6) is an ester of furfuryl alcohol with a mild sweet almond-hay odor, widely employed in the flavor industry as a fruit, caramel, coffee, spirit and confectionery note; in perfumery and cosmetics to add warm woody accents; as a solvent and aroma carrier in tobacco, soaps and detergents; as an intermediate in the synthesis of furan, epoxy and phenolic resins to enhance thermal and mechanical performance of composites; and as a precursor for certain pesticides, pharmaceuticals and polymer additives, while complying with food-grade and IFRA safety guidelines for allowable concentrations.
