Applications
Furanodienone (CAS 24268-41-5) is a natural furanosesquiterpenoid and a characteristic constituent of myrrh (Commiphora spp.), used mainly in research: as a reference standard in HPLC/GC-MS for qualitative and quantitative profiling and standardization of myrrh materials and extracts; as a scaffold for semisynthesis and activity optimization of sesquiterpene derivatives; as a bioactive probe in mechanism-focused assays (anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anticancer) given reports of NF-kB inhibition, mitochondrial-pathway apoptosis, and modulation of oxidative stress; in ADME/PK, metabolism, and biomarker studies; to build spectral libraries and authentication criteria (NMR, MS, UV); and occasionally in agro/biochemical evaluations for lab-scale antimicrobial or insect-affecting potential, although direct commercial applications remain limited.
