Applications
Ferrous Citrate (CAS 23383-11-1) is used as an iron source in dietary supplements, iron-fortified foods, and certain pharmaceutical formulations. It also functions as a chelating agent to sequester metal ions in household and industrial cleaning products and in water treatment formulations. In chemical manufacturing, Ferrous Citrate can serve as an intermediate and as a source of Fe2+ for the preparation of iron-containing complexes and iron-based catalysts. It is also used as a micronutrient source in agricultural formulations to correct iron deficiency in crops, incorporated in fertilizer blends or for foliar applications.
