Applications
Ferric sodium pyrophosphate is used primarily as an iron fortificant in food processing, where sodium ferric pyrophosphate provides bioavailable iron in cereals, dry mixes, and other dry foods while helping color stability. In agriculture, it is evaluated as a micronutrient supplement for animal feeds to address iron deficiencies. In household and industrial cleaning, it functions as a sequestering and chelating agent and can act as a corrosion inhibitor, binding calcium and magnesium and stabilizing formulations in detergents and cleaners. In coatings, inks and adhesives, it can serve as a chelating agent and stabilizer, improving pigment dispersion and controlling metal ions during processing. In polymer and plastics manufacturing, it may be used as a processing aid or stabilizer to influence rheology and color stability. Use is subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
