    Farnesyl acetate, (2Z,6Z)- (CAS 24163-97-1) is a sesquiterpene acetate widely used in fragrance applications for its warm, soft, mildly floral-green character, enabling construction of white-floral, amber, woody, and soapy accords and serving as a fixative to extend scent longevity in fine fragrances, cosmetics, and personal care products such as creams, shampoos, body washes, and deodorants; in home and fabric care it is incorporated into detergents, softeners, air care and candles to smooth and round off top notes; technically, it dissolves well in ethanol and oils (poorly in water), is compatible with many emulsions and polymer carriers, and is often microencapsulated for controlled release; in R&D it functions as a building block for other sesquiterpenes/esters, a GC–MS reference in essential-oil profiling, and is studied for potential bioactivities (e.g., antimicrobial, antioxidant) and as a semiochemical in entomology, while commercial use should follow safety assessments, formulation stability/compatibility checks, and applicable IFRA/REACH compliance.
