  • Applications

Eucarvone (CAS 503-93-5) is a monoterpene ketone with minty, herbal, camphoraceous notes, used primarily as a fragrance ingredient in perfumes, personal care products, household cleaners and air fresheners, and as a food flavor in certain applications at appropriate dosages; in organic and medicinal chemistry it serves as a chiral starting material/intermediate for building terpenoid derivatives, enabling transformations such as selective reductions, epoxidations, Baeyer–Villiger oxidation to lactones, and microbial biotransformations; in research and quality control it is employed as a reference/marker in GC–MS profiling to authenticate and standardize Eucalyptus essential oils and other aroma matrices, and is frequently investigated in vitro for antimicrobial, antifungal, insect‑repellent and antioxidant activities to support natural product discovery and functional fragrance formulation.
