Beyond personal care, it is used in coatings, inks and adhesives as a processing aid and softener to improve flow, flexibility and binder compatibility, and in some household cleaning products as a low-volatility solvent that enhances spreadability. In polymer formulations it can act as a processing aid/softener for select plastics.
