HighOdor threshold
- Odor Threshold Low: 0.02 [mmHg]. Odor Threshold High: 3.5 [mmHg]. Detection odor threshold from AIHA (mean = 0.27 ppm)
- 2.70X10-1 ppm (detection in air)
- Odor recognition in air= 8.30X10-1 ppm (purity not specified)
- The odor threshold reportedly ranges from 0.027 to 3.5 ppm, having a sharp fishy, ammoniacal odor, which becomes irritating at 180 mg/cu m.

Applications
Ethylamine is a versatile primary amine used primarily as a chemical intermediate to prepare a broad range of amine-containing compounds. In industry it serves as a starting point for pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates, for the synthesis of dyes and pigments, and as a building block for amine-functional polymers and coatings. It is also employed in the production of surfactants and cleaning agents (including cationic surfactants) and as a curing agent or precursor in polyurethane/polyurea systems.
