Applications
Ethyl palmitoleate (the ethyl ester of palmitoleic acid, an omega‑7 fatty acid) is used as an emollient and skin‑conditioning agent in cosmetics and derma formulations for its light, spreadable feel, penetration‑enhancing and lipophilic‑solubilizing properties; as an excipient/vehicle or solvent in topical and transdermal delivery systems; as an analytical reference/internal standard in GC‑MS/LC‑MS FAEE panels for ethanol exposure assessment and forensic testing (FAEEs in hair/serum) and for quality control of oils and fats; as a carrier and sensorial modifier in fragrances and hair‑care products; as a component of FAEE‑based biodiesels and biolubricants derived from fish/algal oils; and as a synthesis intermediate and subject of omega‑7 nutrition research, with any health claims subject to validation and regulatory approval.
