Applications
Ethyl acrylate (CAS 140-88-5) is a versatile acrylic monomer that can be homo- or co-polymerized with other vinyl monomers to produce water-borne and solvent-borne acrylic resins for architectural and automotive coatings, printing inks, pressure-sensitive and construction adhesives, sealants and caulks, UV/EB-curable varnishes, photopolymer printing plates, elastomeric modifiers for plastics and rubbers, anti-soil and wrinkle-resistant textile finishes, glossy grease-resistant paper coatings, artificial leather and packaging films, super-absorbent polyacrylate powders for diapers, cosmetic microbeads, dental and biomedical hydrogels, viscosity modifiers for drilling fluids, and it also serves as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, surfactants, flavors, fragrances and other specialty acrylate esters.
