Applications
Disodium ascorbyl sulfate (CAS 53910-28-4) is a water-soluble derivative of ascorbic acid that is commonly used in cosmetics and personal care as an antioxidant and stabilizing additive; owing to its sulfate functionality it can act as a mild surfactant or surfactant-like component in cleansers, shampoos and shower products. It may also be used in household cleaning formulations to provide antioxidant protection for colorants and to contribute mild cleaning properties. In industrial manufacturing, it can serve as an antioxidant/stabilizer in pigment-containing formulations, coatings or polymer systems. It is also considered an intermediate in the synthesis of other ascorbyl derivatives. Its use is formulation-dependent and subject to local regulations and limits.
