    Disodium 2-sulfopalmitate (CAS 5896-55-9) is an anionic surfactant and emulsifier derived from the disodium salt of a sulfonated palmitic acid. In industry it is commonly used as a wetting and dispersing agent and appears in a range of formulations as a surfactant. Typical applications include detergents and household cleaners; cosmetics and personal care products (as an emulsifier and surfactant); coatings and inks (to improve wetting and pigment dispersion); polymers and plastics processing (as an emulsion stabilizer and processing aid); textile processing (as a wetting/levelling agent); and in industrial cleaning formulations or metalworking fluids as a surfactant additive; use is subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
