Applications
Dioctyltinbis(2-ethylhexyl mercaptoacetate) (CAS 15571-58-1) is an organotin compound used principally as a heat stabilizer for PVC and other thermoplastics, improving thermal stability during processing. It is also considered a catalyst or co-catalyst in polyurethane formulations (foams and coatings) and in epoxy systems, enabling faster or more controlled curing. As a mercaptide tin complex, it can serve as an intermediate in the synthesis of tin-based catalysts and stabilizers used in plastics and coatings. Additionally, it may be employed as a component in coatings and adhesive formulations to help optimize cure behavior and network formation of the resulting film or bond.
