Applications
Dimethylaminoethyl acrylate benzyl chloride (CAS 46830-22-2) is a quaternary ammonium monomer derived from dimethylaminoethyl acrylate; when quaternized, it can be used to synthesize cationic polymers for water-based coatings, inks, and adhesives. It also serves as an intermediate for preparing other functional quaternary ammonium monomers used in surface-active formulations and additives for printing, paints, and coatings. Owing to its positive charge, polymers derived from this monomer may be employed in water treatment as flocculants and in paper finishing and textile finishing. In addition, it can be used as a precursor for conditioning polymers in cosmetics and personal care, and as a building block for polymer systems in plastics formulations to modify surface interaction.
