Applications
Diisobutylaluminum hydride (CAS 1191-15-7) is a bulky aluminum hydride reducing agent widely used in organic synthesis for selective reductions. Typical applications include: selective reduction of esters to aldehydes at low temperature (often -78 °C), reduction of nitriles to aldehydes, and generation of aldehyde intermediates for the synthesis of pharmaceutical and other complex organic compounds; preparation of aldehyde intermediates for fragrance and flavor chemistry; use in process development and materials science to modify carbonyl functionality and improve product properties.
