Applications
Diisobutyl maleate (CAS 14234-82-3) is used as a plasticizer and processing aid for polymers, improving flexibility and melt processability in PVC, polyesters, and related coatings. It also serves as a reactive diluent and monomer in UV- and thermally cured coatings and inks, enabling faster cure and better film formation. As an intermediate, it is employed in the synthesis of specialty resins such as alkyds, polyesters, and urethane acrylates. In adhesive and sealant formulations, it helps adjust flow, viscosity, and flexibility to enhance bond performance. In polymer formulation, it can act as a copolymerizable component, enabling tailored Tg and mechanical properties.
