    Diiron monophosphide (Fe2P) is primarily studied as a catalyst and catalyst precursor for industrial oil processing, notably hydrodesulfurization and hydrodenitrogenation, as well as related hydrogenation reactions; it is also viewed as a catalytic material for electrochemical applications such as the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in water electrolysis. In materials technology, Fe2P-based phosphide systems are investigated for wear-resistant and high-temperature coatings to improve surface durability.
