  • Applications

Diethyl phthalate (DEP, CAS 84-66-2) is a colorless, faint-odor liquid phthalate ester widely employed as a plasticizer for cellulose acetate, polyvinyl acetate and other resins; a fragrance carrier in perfumes, cosmetics and nail lacquers; a solvent for printing inks, lubricants and adhesives; a solubility modifier in aerosol insecticides, a stabilizer for nitrocellulose in fireworks, photographic films and magnetic tapes, and a flow-property improver in fuels, while also serving as a reference solvent in chromatographic laboratory analyses.
