    Dazomet (CAS 533-74-4) is primarily used as a soil fumigant in agriculture and horticulture to control nematodes, soil-borne fungal pathogens, and some weed seeds. Upon moisture, it hydrolyzes to methyl isothiocyanate (MITC), the active fumigant released. Typical applications include soil treatment in greenhouses and nurseries, pre-plant soil fumigation in field crops to reduce pests and soil diseases, and sterilization of seedbeds or potting media.
