Applications
Cumene hydroperoxide (CAS 80-15-9) is primarily used as an intermediate in the cumene process for producing phenol and acetone. It also serves as a radical initiator for polymerization of vinyl monomers in resins, coatings, and adhesives. In addition, CHP can act as a curing/initiating agent in peroxide-cured polymer systems and specialty resins, enabling controlled crosslinking in coatings and adhesives. As with all peroxides, handling and use are subject to local safety regulations and formulation limits.
