copper(I) bromide (CAS 7787-70-4) is primarily used as a copper(I) source and catalyst in synthesis and materials applications. In organic synthesis it serves as a precursor for organocuprate reagents and participates in copper-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions, including Ullmann-type transformations. It is also employed as the copper(I) component in azide–alkyne click chemistry (CuAAC) to promote rapid, high-yielding cycloadditions. In polymer chemistry, CuBr participates in ATRP catalyst systems (often with suitable ligands) to enable controlled radical polymerizations for well-defined polymers used in coatings and adhesives. Additionally, it functions as a starting material in the preparation of copper halide–based nanomaterials and related inorganic/organic hybrids used in research and development, all subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
