Applications
Copper oxide (Cu2O, CAS 1317-39-1) is primarily used as a pigment in ceramics, paints, and glass, imparting a reddish tone and providing color stability in glazes and coatings. It also serves as a catalyst or catalyst precursor for various oxidation reactions and some polymerization processes. Because of its p-type semiconductor nature, Cu2O is studied for electronics and photoelectrochemical applications, including sensors and energy storage-related devices.
