Applications
Copper iodide (CAS 13767-71-0) is used as a catalyst or catalyst precursor in organic synthesis (for example CuI-catalyzed cross-couplings and CuAAC—click chemistry), as a Cu(I) source for polymerization and polymer modification reactions, and as a precursor for coordination chemistry to form copper(I) complexes; in electronics and optoelectronics it functions as a p-type semiconductor material for devices such as diodes and some photovoltaic applications; it is also employed in inorganic synthesis to prepare copper-containing compounds and materials, and in materials science as a functional catalyst for surface and coating formulations.
