Applications
cis-Piperitenol (CAS 6753-08-8) is a minty, herbaceous monoterpene alcohol used in fragrance compounding to modulate mint, herbal, eucalyptus and citrus accords and to boost naturality in fine fragrances, soaps, detergents and personal care; applied as a flavor ingredient in foods and beverages (confections, chewing gum, mint-flavored drinks) and in oral-care flavors (toothpastes, mouthwashes) at appropriate dosages; employed as an intermediate for terpenoid transformations (oxidation/reduction, esterification) to access minty ketones/esters and for stereochemical studies; used as an analytical reference/marker in GC/GC–MS profiling of Mentha and other Lamiaceae essential oils; supports research on monoterpene bioactivity and aroma preservation technologies (not a drug); obtainable by isolation from essential oils or by synthesis.
