Applications
Chlorendic Anhydride (CAS 115-27-5) is widely used as a reactive flame-retardant additive and as a crosslinking agent in polymers. In practice, it is employed as a flame-retardant component in polyurethane foams, epoxy resins, polyester resins, and styrenic polymers to enhance fire performance. It also serves as a crosslinking agent for epoxy and unsaturated polyester resins, enabling more heat-stable, rigid networks. As an intermediate, it is used to synthesize halogenated flame-retardant compounds and related reactive monomers. Additionally, it finds use in coatings and inks and in adhesive formulations to impart flame resistance, and it may be applied in specialty polymer systems for electronics packaging where fire performance is a priority. Use is subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
