Applications
Caprylyl peroxide (CAS 762-16-3) is primarily used as a radical initiator in industrial polymerization and resin formulations. In polymers and coatings, it initiates free-radical polymerization of vinyl and acrylate monomers, enabling the production of acrylic resins, polyesters, coatings, inks, and adhesives, and it supports crosslinking in polyurethane and epoxy systems. It is also employed in the manufacture of specialty polymers and elastomers via radical processes, including hot-cure formulations for unsaturated polyester resins.
