Applications
Cadmium Chloride serves as a source of cadmium ions in electroplating and metal finishing baths, and as a precursor for cadmium-based pigments and coatings (e.g., cadmium sulfide and related pigments). It is also used in the electronics and optoelectronics field as a feedstock for the synthesis of cadmium chalcogenide semiconductors and quantum dot materials. In polymer processing, it may be used as a processing aid or stabilizer in certain cadmium-based systems, particularly in PVC formulations, subject to regulatory controls.
