    Butyltrichlorosilane (CAS 7521-80-4) is primarily used as a silane coupling agent and surface modifier for inorganic–organic interfaces. It functionalizes silica, glass, and mineral fillers to improve adhesion with polymer matrices in composites and coatings. It also serves as an intermediate for the synthesis of other alkylsilane coupling agents and siloxane materials. It enables hydrophobic surface treatments and crosslinking in coatings, sealants, and adhesives, and is used to prepare alkylsilane reagents and silicone prepolymers. In electronics-related coatings and surface treatments, it may be employed to improve adhesion and moisture resistance. Use is determined by formulation needs and regulatory constraints.
