Applications
Butyl Gallate (CAS 1083-41-6) is a phenolic antioxidant used to inhibit lipid oxidation, primarily in fats and oils, helping extend shelf life and stability for certain food products and, where permitted, in food-contact packaging; it is also employed in cosmetics and personal care formulations as an antioxidant and stabilizer; in polymers and plastics processing it serves as a heat/oxidation stabilizer to improve durability; in coatings and inks it functions as an antioxidant additive to reduce aging and color drift; and it may be evaluated for use as a stabilizer in other industrial formulations, all subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
