Bromobenzene (CAS 108-86-1) is a versatile aryl halide feedstock used as a building block in organic synthesis. It serves as a substrate for palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling (Suzuki, Heck, Sonogashira) to construct biaryl, vinyl, and other aryl motifs, enabling the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and dyes/pigments. It also provides a route to Grignard reagents (phenylmagnesium bromide) for a range of transformations, including formation of alcohols, carboxylic derivatives, and other carbonyl compounds. Additionally, bromobenzene is employed as a precursor for specialty dyes and pigments and as a feedstock for aryl-containing monomers used in coatings, inks, and polymeric materials.
