It primarily acts as a hydroperoxide decomposer and radical scavenger to suppress thermo-oxidative degradation during melt processing. Typical applications include stabilization of polyolefins such as polyethylene and polypropylene and vinyl polymers like PVC during compounding and extrusion; protection of lubricating oils and industrial fluids against oxidation; and improving the thermal- and light-stability of coatings and inks.
