    beta-Sesquiphellandrol (CAS 55853-55-9) is a natural sesquiterpenoid alcohol reported in ginger-family essential oils, notably ginger, with a warm, spicy, woody odor; in practice it is used as a flavor and aroma modulator in foods, beverages, and perfumery, as an analytical reference standard for GC–MS/GC×GC fingerprinting of essential oils and for herbal/raw-material quality control, as a synthetic intermediate to access more stable sesquiterpenoid esters/ethers for fragrance applications, and as a probe in biological and biosynthetic studies (screening antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities; enantiomeric profiling; chiral GC method development; metabolic flux tracing; and sesquiterpene synthase optimization); it is also applied in sensory calibration and formulation-stability testing for cosmetics and personal care, with attention to purity, stereochemistry, oxidative stability, and compliance with relevant safety regulations.
