Applications
Benzyl octanoate (CAS 10276-85-4) is used mainly as a fragrance ingredient with a fruity–floral, sweet, slightly waxy odor and fixative character, extending and rounding notes in fine fragrances, air care, candles, soaps and detergents; in foods and beverages it can be used at very low levels as a flavoring agent to reinforce tropical/creamy fruity nuances in confectionery, baked goods and drinks; in personal care it serves as a perfume component, emollient/skin-conditioning aid and hydrophobic fragrance carrier for creams, shampoos and body washes; it is also used as a slow-evaporating solvent carrier, aroma modifier in industrial bases, and as a reference/analytical standard for R&D and formulation work.
