Applications
Arhimachalene (CAS 19419-67-1) is a sesquiterpene hydrocarbon commonly found in cedarwood oil; it is used primarily as a fragrance ingredient to impart dry, warm, woody notes and substantivity in perfumes, personal care, and air-care products; as an analytical reference/marker in GC–MS for identification, quantitation, and quality control of essential oils (including authentication and chemotaxonomic profiling); as a sesquiterpene building block in organic and fragrance research to explore structural transformations and derivatives; and it has been investigated as one of the constituents contributing to the insect-repellent effects observed for cedarwood oil.
