    Ammonium ferrous sulfate is used in analytical chemistry as a stable source of Fe2+ and as a reducing agent in redox reactions; it serves as a primary standard for iron(II) solutions and for standardizing oxidants such as potassium permanganate or dichromate. It is also employed as a precursor of iron(II) in inorganic synthesis and in the preparation of iron complexes. In materials processing, it can act as a precursor for iron-containing pigments and catalysts or for subsequent conversion to iron oxides. In agriculture, it may be used as an iron source in fertigation or hydroponic solutions to address iron deficiency. The use of ammonium ferrous sulfate is subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
