In practical formulations, it is commonly used as a nonionic surfactant and conditioning agent in cosmetics and personal care; as an emulsifier and wetting agent in polymer systems and coatings; as an emulsifier and humectant in household and industrial cleaners; as a stabilizer and texture-enhancing additive in cosmetic emulsions; and may serve as a coupling/compatibilizing agent for polymer or plastics processing or as a solubilizer or intermediate in pharmaceutical or agricultural formulations, subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
