Applications
Allyldimethylsilane (CAS 3937-30-2) is primarily used as a building block in silicone chemistry to introduce vinyl functionality and enable downstream silicone-based polymer synthesis. It commonly serves as a monomer or comonomer in radical polymerizations to yield vinylsilane-containing polymers or copolymers. It can act as a crosslinking agent in UV-curable coatings and adhesive formulations by providing reactive allyl groups that participate in curing. It also functions as a silane coupling/adhesion promoter for coatings, adhesives, and composites, improving bonding to inorganic substrates and to plastics. In addition, it may be used as a precursor for surface modification of polymeric and other substrates to tailor surface energy and compatibility in electronics-related and high-performance coatings. Subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
