Acoradiene (CAS 35944-18-4) has been reported as a sesquiterpene hydrocarbon constituent of certain Acorus essential oils, but its structure remains unresolved, so current uses are primarily research-oriented: as a chemical marker in GC–MS/GC×GC fingerprinting and quality control (retention indices, mass spectra), to support chemotaxonomic differentiation of Acorus chemotypes, as a target for isolation and structure elucidation (NMR, HRMS) and for sesquiterpene biosynthesis studies, for spectral library building and aroma modeling/sensory exploration in fragrance research, for exploratory stability and metabolism assessments, and as an in-house/secondary analytical standard when a suitable purified source is available; it is not recommended for therapeutic or food-additive use, thus applications are largely confined to R&D, screening toxicology, and botanical source authentication.
